Dr. Monée’s Bio
Over thirty years ago, a dream was born in the heart of Dr. Monée N. Merriweather. It happened one night while she was watching Johnny Carson on the "Tonight Show" interviewing Dr. Joyce Brothers. Something clicked. Dr. Monée remembers that night well. "I really liked what Dr. Brothers was saying. I felt her sincerity. I truly felt she had the desire to make a difference in the lives of others. More powerfully, I saw that she was reaching millions of people through the medium of television." And now, Dr. Monée is on the brink of making a difference in the lives of millions of people. Her formal education and life experiences have uniquely prepared her for the creation and professional efforts with preludecounseling.com, but the key and the spark behind her success is her wonderful ability to truly connect with people.
Dr. Monée was born in Flint, Michigan, initially raised in Davison, and then at the age of fifteen, she moved to Fenton with her parents, three brothers and sister.
Dr. Monée graduated with honors from Fenton High School and then, at the age of twenty-one, she moved to Los Angeles, California where she began her formal education.
After obtaining her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Radio-TV Broadcasting from California State University, Northridge (CSUN) in May of 1991, Dr. Monée entered a four-year Master of Science program in Counseling at CSUN with an emphasis in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling. In January of 1995, Dr. Monée relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, and in May of 1995 had completed her Master’s Degree. Then, her greatest life accomplishment presented itself on January 4th, 1996 when her miracle daughter was born into the world and soon after she had entered kindergarten, Dr. Monée went on to pursue a Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology from California Southern University (CSU).
Moving from Los Angeles, California to Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Monée longed for a quality of life; however, after extenuating family circumstances, she closed her 10-year private practice and moved to Arizona for nearly four years and then returned to Georgia where she continues to pursue her dream of working in radio/TV to enhance her work in the field of mental health. Dr. Monée maintains licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Georgia and Arizona and held credentialing as a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and who is Founder, Director and President of Prelude Counseling Centers Intl., Inc. located in Suwanee, Georgia. In addition, she is Founder of The Noél Penn Foundation, Inc., a 501c3 nonprofit, whose mission is to help educate, protect and empower individuals of all forms of abuse, domestically and/or publicly. She has an adult daughter and resides in Suwanee with her husband John and Maltipoo, Cali Penn.
